Well here I am writing a blog. It doesn't really seem like something I would do but I feel like I am at an interesting point in my life right now. I am a thirty-one year old pastor with a wife and two children and I feel that I am coming into a deeper understanding of who I am and who those around me are. I would like to share that with anyone that would care to read about it.
So what am I learning? I love playing guitar and have played since I was thirteen, but there was about a six year period of time when I didn't play at all. When I returned to play I really knew nothing. Of course I knew the chords and all that but everything else was gone. So I began to play and quickly the rust was gone and everything seemed simple to me. The patterns, chord progression, music theory, etc... I am in know way a great musician but it was amazing how much understanding came to me. I think leadership and life are very similar to this example. Just when you think you have it all figured out, things seem to stall out, you realize you know nothing, growth happens, and a whole new world is open to you. So what is the take away. In order be successful in life I must know myself and I must know those around me.
